Project 52 - The iPhone

13 Oct 2011

I was so excited for this weeks theme, it was picked by Karla and in memory of the wonderful Steve Jobs. This weeks theme was The iPhone.

Now I have a confession, I LOVE my iPhone, I've had it a year and it is the best piece of technology I have ever owned. I also love Instagram (a FREE photography app, get it, it's amazing!) and I use it for the majority of photos I take on my phone.

Here is one of my favourite photos of Uni taking with my iPhone/Instagram

I really love the choice of filters that you can use and it just makes every photo look fantastic! If you want to follow me on Instagram my name is @barkthisway
Since scanning my iPhone for photos for this week I also realised I have quite a collection 'Uni sleeping' photographs (there are lots!....how sad!)

Now please head over to the fantastic Hans Paul Studios blog to see how Hans and Shorty got on with this weeks theme! Keep clicking through the links till you end up back here! Have a fab weekend!

Project 52 - Chilled Out

7 Oct 2011

So this weeks Beautiful Beasties project 52 theme is Chilled Out. Anyone that owns dogs knows that they love to sleep and in the weirdest places and positions you could ever imagine!

The last few weeks has been anything but chilled out for me, I've started a new job and I'm not having as much time for photography as I once had. This week has really run away with me, so much so that it got to Wednesday and I hadn't even shot anything for this weeks theme.

I was planning on doing something on Thursday but it didn't quite turn out that way! Wednesday night I woke up in the night and could not get back to sleep. I was lying there wide awake, I turned my bedside lamp on and began reading (this always makes me so tired!) Uni sleeps in a little bed next to mine and I glanced over at her and she looked so peaceful, so at 3 o clock in the morning I took these photos!...

Project 52 - First thing in the morning

23 Sept 2011

So this week's theme for the Beautiful Beasties project 52 was "First thing in the Morning". I thought it was an interesting theme as you can go off in many directions with this particular theme.

This week has been a very hectic one, I started a new full time job and haven't had as much spare time for photography. I was struggling with ideas for this theme (I never do well when I have alot of choices!)

I played about with a few ideas and nothing was sticking, It was my Mum that actually came up with the idea for the final shot and I love it (thanks Mum!)

So here it is, Uni enjoying her morning breakfast!....
Now head on over to Steph Skardal's blog to see how she got on with this week's theme... and remember keep clicking through the links until you get back here!

Project 52 - Macro

16 Sept 2011

The theme for this week's Beautiful Beasties project 52 was Macro. I LOVE macro photography and especially of pets! Funnily enough in my second year of university I did a project where I photographed my pets but using my little point and shoot on macro setting, my teacher really loved the photos and this is when I started to think about photographing pets more, a year later Bark This Way was born!

I like very extreme close ups that aren't always flattering (you will see what I mean when you scroll down)

This week I chose Pneuma our Doberman as the model. Pneuma has an ongoing skin problem so that is why her fur looks a little sparse in places. You can read all about Pneuma's story here, it's worth a read, this girl has had a tough time before she came to us!
I love Pneuma's huge nose and squishy rubbery lips,(we are always smooshing them) so that is what I focused on! I don't have a macro lens so I got as close as my camera would allow.

Please head over to the Steph Skardal Photography blog to see how Steph got on with this week's theme. Keep clicking through the links until you end up back here!

Project 52 - Second chance

9 Sept 2011

This weeks theme for Project 52 was Second Chance. The group is half way through the project so the idea of this week's theme was to pick a theme from the previous weeks and give it a second chance, this could be one you've missed out on or one that you feel you could have done a little better.

I was so happy with this weeks theme as I only joined the group two weeks ago (week 25) and there were so many past themes that I would have loved to have joined in on (great idea Stacey!)

Out of all the themes there was one that I kept going back to, Strange Behaviour. Uni my little Jack Russell has a number of strange things that she does so I knew it would be a good theme for me!

Among her other strange habits Uni loves to snuggle under blankets, throws, towels, anything she can get under! She creeps into my bed at night and snuggles under the duvet too. She loves it!

I'm really loving being a part of the Project 52 community, I get so excited every Friday to see everyone else's photos and It's a great way to catch up on everyone's blogs too!
Now head over to Brindle Berry to see what theme Holly Montgomery decided to give a second chance this week. Keep clicking through the blog links until you end up back here!

Project 52 - Humour

2 Sept 2011

So it's that time of week again, Project 52 on a friday! The theme for this week is Humour...

Now everyone who owns a dog knows that they do the craziest and funniest things that have us owners in stitches...

I wanted to photograph Inca our two year old Bedlington this week as she is the , how shall i say this , 'simplest' of our pack at home. She's not the sharpest tool in the shed and is the one that often has us all laughing!

Inca loves playing with anything she finds in the garden, plums, little bits of ripped up toy, fluff, the list is endless but she never EVER manages to catch anything we throw in the air for her.

I'll set the scene for you I was frantically waving around a little piece of fluff that Inca had been playing with 2 seconds before, she sat there and looked puzzled.. I threw it up in the air for her, she sat there and looked puzzled...I jumped around like a crazy person trying to get here to play, she sat there and looked puzzled! In the last two frames she kinda got the idea! The minute my camera was back in the bag she started playing on her own! These are the kinda funny little things that Inca does, she is in her own little world!
Now please head on over to Brindle Berry blog where Holly Montgomery will show you her take on this week's theme. Click through everyone's links until you end up back here!

Project 52 - Summertime

26 Aug 2011

I'm proud to announce that I am now a member of the Beautiful Beasties community and part of the Project 52 group.

Each week a different theme is picked and we (the group) have to show our own interpretation of the theme. This is my first week (for the rest of the group it's week 25!) and the theme is Summertime, I did have a little chuckle to myself when I read the theme. You'd think that the weather in August would be lovely but what with living in the UK this is never so! We have had horrible weather for the past few weeks and as I type this the rain is beating against the window!

Saying that we did have some nice weather over the weekend and the sun even managed to make an appearance! The dogs LOVE sitting out in the sun so that is what I knew I wanted to photograph when I first read the theme. Uni my little Jack Russell is one big sun worshipper!

So there she is enjoying the sun while it lasts (and looking a little fat!) Head on over to Karla Ogilvie Photography where you can see Karla's take on the Summertime theme and keep clicking through the blog circle to see everyone else's great work!
