Happy Birthday Uni - 2 today!

Today is Uni's 2nd birthday! This little dog came to live with us when she was 8 weeks old as her previous owners couldn't keep her anymore. I was just about to graduate from university and had been thinking of getting a dog of my own for a while...and along she came!

Uni is a great dog and she means the world to me - I wouldn't be without her!

We have snow (image heavy post!)

So we woke up on Sunday morning to 7 inches of snow fall! It looked beautiful! The dogs LOVE the snow, I don't know what it is about it that makes them go so nuts but they go c-r-a-z-y!

It was great for the foster dogs as they had never seen snow before. Here are some photos from Sunday morning...

Uni and June, even though June is 4 because she came from a puppy farm she had never seen snow before!

To say Inca loves the snow is an understatement. She stayed outside ALL day!

Unfortunately having short legs and long fur only means one thing - snowballs! Sorry Rufus...

R.A.T.S Adoptables

I am so pleased to announce that I now work with a local dog charity - RATS. They take in unwanted pets, dogs from the pound, strays - you name it!


We have 9 dogs of our own, 7 are rescues - giving dogs a second chance to have a great life is something I feel very passionate about so I have offered my services to RATS and I'm very excited about helping these dogs get fantastic homes!

They have had three new arrivals this week and I popped down there to photograph them today.

*UPDATE* Ruby, Molly and Stan have all been rehomed!

When I went up to the centre Ruby was in the paddock on the lead with Mandy, as I started to walk towards her I could tell she was a little frightened. I crouched down to let her sniff me and she soon came round. She is the most gorgeous little thing!

Ruby is a Papillion and is eleven months old. I have no doubt she will get snapped up soon!

Molly is a fantastic little dog! She is your typical Jack Russell Terrier, very springy, bouncy, has the waggiest tail and is full of beans! She is 3 years old and will make someone a fab pet!

Stan is a 4 year old terrier mix who came in from the pound. Sadly he has a sore under his arm from having a harness removed that had become embedded. Stan hasn't let that bother him though and is a very happy and confident little dog.

Baking for Dogs!!

For the last few months I have been a bit addicted to baking - biscuits, cupcakes, cake pops, cookies you name it, I've baked it! The obsession began as we were nearing the festive season and I spent my entire Christmas eve evening baking lovely creations (and listening to the Michael Buble Christmas album).

Baking is fun, eating your home-made masterpieces is even more fun! but I'll tell you what isn't fun, piling on the pounds! So because of this I've been a little more sensible lately and have only baked for special occasions such as birthday parties etc.

For Christmas a friend bought us this book...

and I thought perfect! I can still enjoy baking but the dogs get to eat the home-made delights!!

Today I decided to give one of the recipes a go, now I'll admit some of the recipes are a little strange and a few of them contain a few weird ingredients. Our dogs are fed a RAW or BARF diet which consists of just bones and raw meat so we want their treats to have as much meat in as they can. I decided to make "Toby's Tuna Triangles" as the dogs don't usually eat alot of fish (and they looked easy to make!)

The recipe was easy to follow and the biscuits came out really well, here is the finished product!...

They came out pretty well! I don't think the mutts will complain!
