Now I know we don't get a lot of sun in the UK but the sun is shining here now and this weekend is meant to be sunny. If you are a reader of Dogs today magazine then you may already be aware of this campaign but if you don't let me fill you in....
'Don't Cook Your Dog' is a campaign that has been set up by Dogs Today editor Beverley Cuddy. The campaign is to raise awareness at the dangers of leaving dogs in your car in hot weather, even with the windows open.
How hot does a car get!?..... HOT!
It can become as hot as a oven in only a few short minutes and this results in huge distress and death for dogs shut up in those cars.
The RSPCA are called out to 6,000 dogs in distress in hot cars every year. The video below shows cookies being baked on the back seat of a car!! Now that's one hot car!
How can you help?
Most people don't realise just how hot a car can get, through the 'Don't cook your dog' website you can print free posters and order stickers to help raise awareness. You could post the link to the campaign on your facebook page or blog and help raise awareness.
With celebrity supporters such as Stephen Fry, Jilly Cooper, Anthony Worrall Thompson, Victoria Stillwell and charities such as Dogs Trust, The Blue Cross and Wood Green the campaign is in full swing.
Click on the campaign poster above or visit www.dogstodaymagazine.co.uk/dontcookyourdog to get involved!
