This is Uni my dog. She is just over a year old and is a Jack Russell terrier. It was when I was at university last year that I started thinking about having my own dog. I decided that when I graduated and was in a good position to have a dog I would start looking at rescues.
It was late July and I was back home for the weekend. I went to work with Mum in the petshop, when an elderly man came in, he had been in the previous week buying things for his new puppy, an 8 week old Jack Russell. He told us that they couldn't keep her anymore, they were 'too old' and felt they couldn't full fill all her needs. He asked if we would foster her and help find her a new home (we foster for Many Tears). He was very upset as him and his wife adored her. We agreed to help and went to collect her that night. We had puppies at home that were a similar age so knew she would fit straight in.
The minute I saw her my heart melted, she was so tiny and danced around us like a little flea! I seriously fell in love. When we left the couple they were very upset but we assured them that she would find a great home. We got her back to ours and I couldn't stop cuddling her, I took one look and Mum and she knew what I was going to suggest!
We let her settle in for a few more days before we made the decision to keep her. I hadn't planned on getting a dog straight after finishing university but I seriously fell in love!! She is such a great little dog and I get so many compliments about her. She adores children which is so lovely to see and she is such a friendly little pup. Even though I have grown up in a house full of dogs she has shown me the responsibilities that come with owning your own dog. You will see a lot her around here!
